Hiking
There are endless hiking trails in and around Ommen. They all belong to the hiking network, a sophisticated signposting system that connects hundreds of kilometers of walks. Since July 2011, 74 new signposted routes have been available in Ommen. These routes offer hundreds of expansion options. You can easily make a detour of two kilometers. But the experienced hiker will also enjoy himself. There are varied landscapes. That makes the municipality of Ommen an attractive and much appreciated hiking area.
You can immediately start hiking from the front door of the Olde Regge holiday home. A 10 km walk, for example, goes to the estate Het Laer, with country house, grand canal and through the Wolfskuil. Then along the river Regge to estate Eerde with the Steile Oever and the Besthmenerberg.
A trip over the Lemeler or Besthmenerberg brings heaths and vistas. A walk along the river Vecht shows a beautiful scenic landscape with old country estates. There are also plenty of options for a cooling walk in the forest on a warm summer's day.
The hiking network is simple. Colored routes are on a map. The color corresponds to the colored arrows on route posts. The number of kilometers is indicated per route. You can also link the routes to each other via choice points, so that a longer walking route is created. At every starting point you will find an information panel with a map of the immediate surroundings. There are 28 starting points in the municipality of Ommen.
Long distance walks
The long distance walks, such as the Pieterpad, Havezathepad, Maarten van Rossumpad, Reggepad and the Vechtdalpad are also integrated in the marking system.
You can find more information about the Walking Network on Hiking in the Vechtdal.
